Her creative prowess has received other prestigious recognitions, awards, and nominations, including an HBO New Writers Program Honorable Mention, a Vail Screenplay Contest Quarterfinalist, Telly Awards, Taste Awards, NAACP Image Awards, NABJ Awards, CableFax Program Awards, NAMIC Vision Awards, a GLAAD Media Award, a New York Festivals Award, and a CTAM Mark Award.
Developing and producing scripted and unscripted TV, feature, audio, and digital content are areas of her expertise.
A highlight of Robyn’s career is producing the Miramax nationally-distributed, theatrically-released indie film, “Hav Plenty,” executive produced by Kenneth “Babyface” & Tracey Edmonds, which garnered the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize Nomination and the ABFF Best of Festival Inaugural Winner.
Currently, Robyn teaches screenwriting, podcast storytelling, and moviemaking. She is also developing and shopping her own creations, primarily health and wellness-themed, across diverse genres for various formats and mediums.
Robyn’s short film “#exercises/in/fertility,” which she wrote, produced and directed, is streaming. The short was an official selection of the inaugural Essence Film Festival, the Sidewalk Film Festival, and the Entertainment Creative Collaborative Outreach Program (ECCO-USA) under the Biden Administration. Its screenplay was a quarterfinalist in the annual Fresh Voices competition.
Her podcast, Twice A Child (working title), will launch in 2025.
Robyn’s recent notable credits include Creative Executive at Paramount’s MTVE Studios, Consulting Producer for the Tubi hit film “The Caregiver,” and Executive Consulting Producer of “The F Word” podcast.
As Head of Original Programming & Production at TV One and Cleo TV, she was an integral part of the team that shaped the networks’ creative vision for scripted, unscripted, and digital programming. Robyn was a driving force behind the networks’ most acclaimed content, including the multi-award-winning music documentary series, “Unsung;” the investigative crime & justice limited series “Two Sides of the Truth,” which Viola Davis narrated & executive produced; the top-rated movies “Bobbi Kristina,” “When Love Kills,” and “Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story.”
During her 16-year tenure at TV One, Robyn oversaw 55 made-for-TV movies,50 episodes of scripted comedies, more than 500 hours of true crime & justice series, and over 1000 hours of news & public affairs programming. She keenly understands the “show” and the “business.”
Varied freelance work for HBO, Lifetime, A&E, Cinemax, BET, Def Jam Recordings, and Uptown Records elevated her diverse creative perspective while honing her versatility and adaptability.
Robyn holds a Master of Science in television-radio-film production from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from New York University. As a frosh, Robyn won the university-wide NYU Liberal Education Award for expository writing.
She is a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and New York Women in Film & TV (NYWIFT).
Robyn’s mother taught her, “You can’t take anything to the grave.” Her father showed, by example, the importance of social responsibility. Thus, she frequently “pays it forward” by mentoring, giving speeches, being a panelist, and engaging in daily interactions that contribute to the growth of others.
